An Intro to Norman Blake's Style
Norman Blake is the Earl Scruggs of solo flatpicking—the guy
whosplit the stylistic atom and was able to communicate simple melodies in driving and syncopated new ways. Using the tune
Going Across the Sea, we'll look at how some cool left-hand positions, some bursts of crosspicking and the use of select
mid-solo strums can set us squarely on the road to Blakeville.
