Northern Neck Workshop Day
with Orrin Star

Sunday June 22, 2008
Berry Residence
270 Robins Nest Rd, Lancaster, VA

11am-1:00pm
BLUEGRASS RHYTHM GUITAR

Bluegrass guitarists have developed some of the most potent and interesting rhythm moves ever heard—but they are seldom taught
in an organized way. This workshop takes a hands-on, detailed and entertaining look at them. Learn the cool bass runs and strums and how to apply them. If you strum folk, bluegrass or country music
on an acoustic guitar this workshop is for you.

1:30-3:30pm
MANDOLIN: Cherokee Shuffle
Cherokee Shuffle is a popular bluegrass fiddle tune which is
relatively easy to learn and which, in our key-of-D arrangement, utilizes almost the full two octave range of the mandolin in first position. (It also lends itself to select chordal swipes which make
it sound full even when played solo.)
