Fall DC-Area Workshops
with Orrin Star at HMT

Saturday October 15, 2011
Irish Mandolin ~ Noon-2:15pm
Traditional Irish instrumental music is a wonderfully rich style with a unique language of embellishments and accents.
Using a lovely three-part jig (The Cat's Meow) as our vehicle, we will explore how this language applies to the mandolin, and how to make your Irish playing sound authentic and interesting.

Octave mandolin and tenor banjo players who play
in GDAE tuning are also welcome.

Bluegrass Rhythm Guitar ~ Noon-2:15pm
Bluegrass guitarists have developed some of the most potent
and interesting rhythm moves ever heard—but they are seldom
taught in an organized way. This workshop takes a hands-on,
detailed and entertaining look at them. Learn the cool bass runs
and strums and how to apply them. If you strum folk, bluegrass
or country music on an acoustic guitar this workshop is for you.
