Double-Stops
Implicit in the tuning of the mandolin is a 'map' of the fretboard
that mandolinists rely on to play in any key. Using two string
mini-chords (double-stops) and the tune Silent Night, this work-
shop will jump-start your understanding of this map
A foundational workshop for all save advanced players.

An Intro to Norman Blake's Style*
Norman Blake is the Earl Scruggs of solo flatpickingthe guy who
split the stylistic atom and was able to communicate simple melodies in driving and syncopated new ways. Using the tune
Buffalo Gals, we'll look at how some cool left-hand positions, some bursts of crosspicking and the use of select mid-solo strums can set us squarely on the road to Blakeville.
For post-novice level players. Limited to 10 participants.
Both workshops include tab hand-outs.
Non-video recording devices encouraged.
Fees: Mandolin $45; Guitar $50.
