Lead Flatpicking: 2:00-4:15pm
An Intro to Norman Blake's Style*
Norman Blake is the Earl Scruggs of solo flatpicking—the guy who
split the stylistic atom and was able to communicate simple melodies in driving and syncopated new ways. Using the tune
Buffalo Gals, we'll look at how some cool left-hand positions, some bursts of crosspicking and the use of select mid-solo strums can set us squarely on the road to Blakeville.

Orrin Star is an award-winning guitarist and mandolin player who combines hot picking, cool singing and good humor.
Once described as 'Arlo Guthrie-meets-Doc Watson', he was the 1976 National Flatpicking Champion, has appeared on
